There is tension in Benue State Commissioner following the gruesome killing of seven Fulanis who were lynched and burnt by irate youths in Gboko area of Benue State on Wednesday (yesterday). Multiple reports have it that soldiers have been deployed today from Abuja to Gboko, Benue State after crisis. The victims were said to be traveling either to Okene in Kogi State or Taraba State when criminals attacked, killed and burnt them to ashes.

JSS 3 Student Kidnaps His Own 8-Year-Old Cousin, Demands N40m Ransom

A mere Junior Secondary School student has allegedly kidnapped his own cousin and even made some demands for his release. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Police on Wednesday arraigned a Junior Secondary School III pupil in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja over the alleged kidnap of eight-year-old Innocent Sani, his cousin. The prosecutor, Mr Kufreabasi Ebong, alleged that the defendant kidnapped Sani, his cousin on Dec. 18, 2017. The prosecutor said that the defendant, 18-year-old Ebenezer Istifanus, demanded N40m ransom, but was paid N160,000. He alleged that the defendant enticed the boy out of the lawful custody of his guardians without their consent. He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 273 of the Penal Code. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Wednesday insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari has not done enough to stop the killings perpetrated by herdsmen in the state. The governor made the remark while reacting to the letter Buhari sent to the Senate disclosing measures he was putting in place to stem killings in the state and other parts of the country. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tahav Agerzua, Ortom while stressing that much has not been done, said, “you and I know that the killings still continue.” The statement reads, “Though the President has drafted the IGP to Benue state to stop the killings, that is certainly not enough.
