Cristiano Ronaldo: Chinese club offered Real Madrid $315M move, says agent

The European winter transfer window is about to open, heralding 31 days of feverish speculation, bids, counter bids and, finally, deals expected to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Real Madrid were offered about $315M by an unnamed Chinese club for Cristiano Ronaldo, says his agent Jorge Mendes.

As is customary, the rumor mill is already in full swing, with so-called super agent Jorge Mendes revealing an unprecedented offer for Cristiano Ronaldo.

said the 31-year-old has been the subject of a bid almost three times bigger than the current world record transfer fee from an unnamed club in the Chinese Super League.

"From China, they've offered €300 million ($315 million) to Real Madrid and more than €100 million ($105 million) per year to the player," Mendes told Sky Sports Italia.
"But money is not everything; the Spanish club is his life," he added.

Ronaldo said he could play for another 10 years in November after signing a new deal with Madrid until June 2021.

"The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players, but it is impossible to go for Ronaldo," said Mendes.

It comes after Shanghai Shenhua confirmed on Thursday they had signed former Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez from Boca Juniors.

Shanghai, coached by ex-Brighton boss Gus Poyet, are reported to have agreed a deal worth £40m for Tevez, including a salary in excess of £310,000 a week.
