UNICAL Student Killed By Robbers During Operation Buried In Cross River (Photos)


Joseph Ita Archibong, a 21-year old student of University of Calabar (UNICAL) who was killed by armed robbers during a robbery operation at 22 Duncan Street in Calabar South LGA of Cross River at about 2.00AM last Wednesday has been buried today, May 4, 2018 At Etak Ukana, Akwa Ikot Effanga in Akpabuyo LGA, Cross River.
As previously reported by some national dailies that the deceased student was in his final year in the above mentioned institute was never true, information gathered by Brainnews Radio from the class mates/friends of the deceased has it that Joseph Archibong before his untimely death was in the department of Linguistics and Communication Studies and a year-3 student in University of Calabar.
According to a close source, “Joseph was killed while trying to stop one of the three robbers on masked after an operation in the early hours of last Wednesday and was shot at closed range with a locally made pistol.”
Another source who pleaded anonymity; told Brainnews Radio that the deceased died after four days in the hospital due to the pellet from the locally made gun, and if treated traditionally he could have been alive.
When the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Irene Ugbo was contacted she confirmed the incident adding that three people have been arrested in connection to the robbery and murder of the young man by operatives from EFUT Police division.
